THE BIG APPLE DIARIES

The Parliament family recently hit the snowy streets of New York City on an annual buying trip to gather new products, fresh ideas and a few stiff drinks. Come along for the ride, if only vicariously.

Cocktail Nights, Pastis Dreams

How to ace your first night in NYC? At the new Ace Hotel, but of course. We took our cocktails at the buzzing lobby bar there. For Colette, it was vodka on the rocks, for Craig a classic Negroni. Then it was off to big time French bistro Pastis for moules-frites and celeb-spotting (we saw some stars of 30 Rock and Real Housewives fame seated).

The ABC’s of Lunching

Lunch and shopping: two of our favourite things brought together in one at ABC Home and ABC Kitchen. One is a landmark for beautiful home décor, the other a landmark for tasty bites (it’s a Jean-Georges Vongerichten project). After fueling up (yes, a glass of wine too), we hit the streets and shops.

Setting the Spring Mood

On the flight to JFK, we got talking about what we were hoping to see for spring and then in the city we came across a store window that encompassed exactly what we’d imagined—a clean base of white and gray with pops of yellow and deep blues.

A Hint of Hues to Come

Here is a little pictorial tease of what spring things to expect in store soon. Crisp whites, peppy yellows and peacock blues come together to lighten and liven up home.
